The Ukrainian Elderly People's Home in Delahey opened on 26/04/1993. It is a fully accredited low care facility that embraces the aging in place philosophy and was built by the Ukrainian community with government assistance.

The home has achieved the maximum term three year term of Accreditation on two occasions having passed 44 out of 44 standards each time. Our commitment to continuous improvement supports ongoing compliance with all regulatory requirements and best practice standards.

The Ukrainian Elderly People's Home Inc. is registered with the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care. It operates under the Aged Care Act 1997 and The Retirement Villages Act 1986 which are administered by the Commonwealth Department of Aged Care.

The Home is built on a spacious 1.7 hectares (4.5 acres) parcel of land. It has the appearance of a single storey, luxurious private home, surrounded by trees, shrubs and flowers. The home is suitable for people with mobility difficulties and is safe for people who wander. The whole building is centrally heated with the dining and lounge rooms air-conditioned in summer.

The Home is designed for people who can no longer adequately cope with independent living. There are 47 bed-sitting rooms with ensuites, including rooms for married couples

CARE AND COMPANIONSHIP

The Ukrainian Elderly People's Home provides accommodation, full board, personal care and 24 hour supervision. The home is an Ukrainian ethno-specific facility which accepts people of any nationality,. The Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care requires that prospective residents be assessed as requiring LOW CARE by an Aged Care Assessment Service before they can be admitted to our aged care facility. Please contact the Hostel Administrator or Nurse in Charge if you need any more information about Assessment.

Relatives and friends of residents are encouraged to visit as often as possible. Both the residents and their visitors are able to relax and enjoy the homely surroundings and amenities of the Home. The dining room is open to visitors and meals can be purchased for a nominal fee by prior arrangement. Relatives and friends are also encouraged to take resident's home or for outings and health permitting, residents may go on a holiday if they so wish.
